Strength and Defense (in General)

I'm thinking up some new strategies, and I feel like I once learned that ST plays a part in Damage reduction. If this is true or false, please let me know, thanks!

I only find this piece. about strength in the wiki, nothing with ac reduction.

Strength
The amount of ST trained will increase the
amount of damage one can do with a
physical weapon. It also increases the
Encumbrance limit on a minion
significantly. (Having x4 the strength will
increase damage by x2; you must also
upgrade your Weapons either using the
Blacksmith or Forging to keep your damage
on par). Strength trained on a Mage will
not have any effect on the damage, for
strength to be useful you must have an
Archer, Tank, or Monk .

I thought that St and Dx played a small part in damage reduction but looks like you will need to test the theory to get some numbers to discuss.

It plays a roll in damage reduction in terms how much armor you can wear or how much strength your exbow can drain.

But by itself, I have never heard of it offering damage reduction.

STR does give an amount of Damage Reduction.

No idea what though, or whether it's additive or multiplicative.

It's too small to be noticable, basically.

Agree with GL, and testing may not be conclusive due to the randomness of the damage delivered based on the equation and the reduction given.

I think its just not working.

Bounty Hunter December 13 2012 12:48 AM EST

What is not working Duke?

Neo Japan December 13 2012 3:08 PM EST

thanks for the input! always appreciate you guys

AdminNightStrike December 13 2012 7:51 PM EST

It's only during melee, and to clarify a post above, dx doesn't directly reduce damage (aside from avoiding hits entirely)

Duke December 13 2012 7:58 PM EST

I have never saw any evidence that str have any impact on DMG reduction

Bounty Hunter December 13 2012 8:06 PM EST

Thanks NS I am just thinking back to some old CB1 discussions but cant recall all the details for sure. But this sounds familiar that ST has a small part in melee rounds for damage reduction.

AdminNightStrike December 13 2012 8:16 PM EST

It's small, and asymptotic like everything else on cb.

AdminNightStrike December 13 2012 8:17 PM EST

Actually, it probably should have been modified when AC was rescaled. It's gotten less impressive since then.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 13 2012 8:19 PM EST

^ I have attempted to tell so many people just what NS has said to a multitude saying I have no freaking clue since I cannot prove it mathematically. Vindication!

Take that non-believers and put it in your prove it mathematically soapboxes!
