What if you're old and bored?

Untouchable November 27 2011 6:43 AM EST

You are not welcome. HA! Just kidding you can check it out too, the thing is you have to be high to see the beauty in it.

Quyen November 27 2011 8:42 AM EST

AdminTal Destra November 27 2011 9:51 AM EST

i think my ears are bleeding

or maybe thats just because i need real music

QBOddBird November 27 2011 11:51 AM EST

I'll be honest with you, that was pretty terrible

Lochnivar November 27 2011 12:09 PM EST

I'll be honest with you, that was pretty terrible

I'll be honest with you too. OB sugar coated ^that^ assessment.

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] November 27 2011 12:23 PM EST

Old people. What can you do?

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] November 27 2011 12:49 PM EST

1 more downvote, sorry :)

Untouchable December 2 2011 11:26 AM EST

Youre all old!

Quyen December 2 2011 11:27 AM EST

i dont like it and im 14 ._. IM OLD!

Lord Bob December 2 2011 12:01 PM EST

Horrendous. Mortifying. I got through fourteen seconds and decided my time would be better spent trying to hang myself. You owe the CB community a huge apology for inflicting that on us.

And yes, I'm old. My generation produced good music.

Django December 2 2011 12:25 PM EST

I have to agree with Lord Bob on this one. That is not music and this title should not even have the word song in it. More like noise.

Lord Bob December 2 2011 12:28 PM EST

Just saw this:
the thing is you have to be high to see the beauty in it.
And there you go.

The Pope [Serenity In Chaos] December 2 2011 1:10 PM EST

I have heard worse, but I'm not gonna buy the CD....

Fishead December 2 2011 1:20 PM EST

I've been high longer than many of you have been alive and this still sucks.

Untouchable December 2 2011 1:21 PM EST

You guys are a really tough crowd :p Its not even that bad geez.

Fine what I can say is am quite the amateur producer so anyway I'll get better in time, but thanks for the feedback anyway

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] December 2 2011 1:23 PM EST

I don't mind it, not the sort of thing I would listen to nowadays. You like faust?

Untouchable December 2 2011 1:27 PM EST

Thanks RD. But I decided to take em down, you guys can check out my instrumentals if you want. http://thesonitusfunction.bandcamp.com/album/defunct

Okay so I need to get some work done

Untouchable December 2 2011 1:38 PM EST

I swear Im gonna come back at you guys with a more mature sound! You guys actually inspired me, not gonna lie.

The Pope [Serenity In Chaos] December 2 2011 1:45 PM EST

sometimes less is more... the more layers you have doesn't mean it's better... just tone it down a bit start simple work to complex...

QBOddBird December 2 2011 1:53 PM EST

I swear Im gonna come back at you guys with a more mature sound! You guys actually inspired me, not gonna lie.

Looking forward to it :)

Lord Bob December 2 2011 2:04 PM EST

Same.

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] December 2 2011 2:44 PM EST

I think you took it down before I had a chance to listen as the link takes me to a dead page which leads me to another page. All I see now is your instrumental stuff (5 tracks total). Reminds me of fall of troy a bit, wouldn't surprise me if they are one of your influences.

If that's the kind of sound you were aiming for, then you are pretty much in the ballpark. I'd tone a few things down just to not make it as much of a wall of sound, but that's just me. Needless to say that not everyone enjoys that style of music.

If I missed what you posted earlier, I'd like to get a chance to hear it if I could. I've got very wide range of music I listen to (seriously prog, metal, post-rock, jazz, folk, classical.. just about everything but rap and country) so my opinion may differ then everyone else here. Also I might understand your target audience a little better seeing as I used to listen to stuff like this a few years back.

Untouchable December 2 2011 3:47 PM EST

WELP BACK A DAY LATER!

Please guys, tell me what you think, this is much better in my personal opinion.

Lord Bob December 2 2011 4:10 PM EST

I was able to get through the whole thing this time. I'll be honest, this is just not my thing. It was certainly an improvement over the last song, however.

I take it that you composed this electronically, correct? When you remove the human element out of a performance, you tend to lose something, unless you're one of the really good professionals out there. For example, the percussion was very overbearing and mechanical. Those cymbal crashes especially need to be muted a bit. Also, the melody was quite monotonous with very little dynamic.

Criticisms aside, I wish you good luck as you strive to learn and improve.

Untouchable December 2 2011 4:12 PM EST

Thanks for the advice Bob!

Untouchable December 2 2011 4:15 PM EST

Xenogard I respect your wide range of musical interests, there arent many people like that out there. But as for the songs, I decided they were just fun little projects not really meant for showing to others! I did put up a new song though, I'm much more proud of it.

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] December 2 2011 4:17 PM EST

Well I enjoyed it if no one else does. I listened to it like 4-5 times straight through then went back and replayed the sections I thought could be improved.

There is a few bits in the beginning where there is a bit too much going on IMO.. I can't pick out which layer I feel is unecessary exactly, but something could probably be dropped to make it sound more fluid and less like layers of sound. Also the distortion makes parts of it sound kind of muddy as well.

You can especially tell one of the layers is very muddy around the 34 second mark. 56 second mark onwards sounds pretty solid to me, the breakdown part at 1:39 is nice, right around the 2:00 mark there is a noticeable shift in the drum beat that seems slightly off to me but at the end everything wraps up rather nicely.

If you can clean it up a bit, and try to dial back some of the distortion and muddiness in certain areas I think it will sound quite nice (it still does, I just think it still has room for improvement)

Anyway that's my assessment after not hearing whatever was posted earlier.

Untouchable December 2 2011 4:20 PM EST

Xenogard, seriously man. The fact that someone would listen to my song 4-5 times is freakin' dream come true haha :p. I'll definetly take your words in to consideration and will do what I can to fix those parts

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] December 2 2011 4:27 PM EST

Your quite welcome, being a musician myself I like to help out others as much as I can. I also know for a fact that the more times you listen to a song, the better grasp you can get on it. I personally can't give something a fair judgement until I've at least heard it a couple times.

DoS December 2 2011 5:08 PM EST

Hey, props to you for even doing something like this. I'm quite inept when it comes to creating music :P

Joel December 2 2011 6:41 PM EST

I missed your link, I guess. It links to nothing so I haven't heard it yet... I've listened to all you other ones and my favorite is Golbez! I've listened to it about 15 times! All of your music reminds me of cool mixtures of different genres. I've downloaded them all!

Untouchable December 2 2011 9:45 PM EST

I love you all :D

The Pope [Serenity In Chaos] December 3 2011 12:16 PM EST

I like this one... Not something I would listen to all the time, but improved for sure...

IPoop December 3 2011 1:25 PM EST

not really my cup of tea to be honest but ive heard much worse (didnt really like it if honest unti about the 56second mark, from then till the end i found myself liking it more).
