did jon ever give any input on... (in General)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 3 2009 12:39 PM EST

the reasoning for killing off the ability for those who merged with facebook to not be able to set their home page any longer or if we could un-merge those accounts for users who didn't realize such a merger was going to limit them?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 3 2009 12:40 PM EST

i think not having a log off button was tied to this issue as well?

QBOddBird December 3 2009 12:50 PM EST

I thought the facebook project was abandoned because it would've been a pain to upkeep with Facebook's constantly changing site?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 3 2009 1:47 PM EST

It was abandoned because they changed and Fex got busy...

I'd still love to see it work (especially since I've got one of those linked accounts)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 4 2009 4:21 PM EST

hopeful bump for dev response ; )

AdminQBVerifex December 4 2009 4:59 PM EST

It's definitely hard to keep up with Facebook and their constantly changing API. I could try updating CB's facebook integration again, I just hope they aren't on the cusp of changing how facebook works, again.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 5 2009 11:10 PM EST

i care little about facebook integration and would recommend just removing all the "merge" issues entirely.

QBOddBird December 5 2009 11:46 PM EST

Yeah, I don't really see Facebook as a potential source of new players.

I don't know, there's this game called Farmville that is facebook linked and a lot of people play it. I'm not sure what it is, I've never played it. The messages automatically pop up in your news feed... and if you get several people with a couple hundred friends, things can spread. But I wonder if you have to have a special deal with Facebook to have the game act that way with their set up?

QBOddBird December 6 2009 12:12 AM EST

farmville is also graphical.

That's a huge blow to most would-be CB players, especially with the sort of people who generally occupy Facebook.

kevlar December 6 2009 12:17 AM EST

that's true, too bad 'cause the girls go nuts over it. Is mafia wars also graphical? I've seen quite a few posts from that game as well.

QBOddBird December 6 2009 12:23 AM EST

IDK. I've seen lots of screenshots of Farmville.

I don't play facebook games. They cause annoying alerts and notifications. I really, really hate the notifications and alerts part of facebook.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 6 2009 1:24 AM EST

As phones get more powerful CB being available on FB gets more and more important. I see any application distribution method that gets CB to phones as being valuable. Heck maybe it's time to look at letting someone write a separate cutesy front end for CB so as to attract the point and click style rpgers.

kevlar December 6 2009 2:15 AM EST

^phones would be a really nice market. Speaking of which... I forgot the name of the guy who developed his own iphone game who used to play CB? Did he release it, anyone play it? Maybe he has some ideas for CB and the cell world.

kevlar December 6 2009 4:38 AM EST

Pixel Sage, is who I was thinking of :)

The people who do Farmville do a pile of other games. They claim to have millions of people playing. Although that translates as millions of people who might have tried them but aren't playing properly.

They're all graphical in a basic wii kind of way.

Mafia Wars is closer to CB in that its basically a text game. But it has pictures.

All of them also have a more 'social' aspect. Some upgrades and bonuses are only available the more of your 'friends' are involved.

"Mafia Wars is closer to CB in that its basically a text game. But it has pictures."

This.

It's got BA in the form of 'energy', and Claire absoultly loves it (but won't play CB...)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 6 2009 12:21 PM EST

^ Yeah, I know tons of people who play farmville and mafia wars... CB is >>>> than those two.

kevlar December 6 2009 1:44 PM EST

http://www.hattrick.org/

this would be a nice site to get advertising on. a few friends from another game said they have a HUGE playerbase, and since it's already text based...

three4thsforsaken December 6 2009 2:27 PM EST

Games like Warbook are very popular on facebook. I have little doubt that there are a ton of users on facebook that are looking for game exactly like CB.
