NS has been working to my slave-master-esque demands the past couple of days making it easier to administrate tournaments, as well as adding a couple new toys for me to play with, such as starting EXP and the ability to set the winner of a tournament rather than have it done automatically by score!

i wonder how difficult it would be to get a checklist for tourney admins of all gear so that they could set items to spawn upon creation of tournament teams?
That sounds like a cool idea dudemus.
it was one of my ideas from way back when jon asked for tournament ideas. an alternate method, which may be easier, is a tournament only store that could be auto-restocked with approved gear.
the reason for this is that it is hard enough to self-police tournament rules with auctions and i am sure it is heck for the admins. some method is needed so that transfers can just be closed off for tournaments in my humble opinion.
Generating items for tournaments is hard in any facet. I have yet to see an idea that's feasible, won't take forever to implement, and is fair to all.
What about giving the items dual attributes, one for tournament characters and one for normal characters.
e.g. Heaume [5], +20 in tournaments, i.e. 25 AC for cheap.

A store that can only be accessed by tournament characters stocked with instantly refreshing items, and items sold to the store either go into the same store or to /dev/null (in which case disenchanting all items is allowed on tournament characters).
Tournament characters prohibited from using auctions in any direction OR a completely separate auction system just for tournament characters.

No, I mean, can I just create a "[Test]Somebody" character in the tournament and NOT follow any of the (other) "regular" tournament rules (except those mentioned specifically for "test" chars in the header) ?
Of course, I can only assume those characters don't qualify for any prizes.
