Do we need a wiki page full of tags? (in Off-topic)
Many webpages use tag pages to make sure if you google
certain keywords like multiplayer textbased RPG, the page ends up on the first few hits.
We could create a page full of tags to increase hits on google so more new players join CB.
But does the CB community and/or Jon want this?
Think of tags like: Better then runescape. Text based RPG, textbased, MMORPG and such.
It's a good idea but unless you have at least half of the admin backing you up on it it ain't likely to happen.

Jon's made a thread about Player retention and new players. So I'm pretty sure he'd be okay with this. It'd be completely user based, and all he has to do is nothing. It'd be more effort for him to actually disagree with this, I don't see it happening.
Lets make the page and if he doesn't want it to be then he can simply delete the wiki page which would take about 4.5 seconds.

It's one of those "yeah, can't hurt, but I seriously doubt it would even bring in a single extra player" kind of things.

i don't remember the words, but i found CB from google too.
which words? text based RPG? I can't get carnageblender on the first page with those.
only when I specify carnage in my search combined with text and rpg I get a first hit on google.

not sure what i used originally, but the google directory of video games > roleplaying > browser based has it as the 11th link. that directory is one of the results from, for instance, browser based text game

then i suppose we should thank you for that, eh? :)
Yeah that always, but if I'm searching for a multiplayer online mmorpg which I want to be text base. I'm not googling for better then runescape.
But do the admins support me in making a tag wiki as an experiment?
Let the wiki stay up for a certain time span (whats normal for these experiments? 1-3 months?) and tweak it until it comes up top?
Anyone willing to help either?

in addition, perhaps some posts about why CB is better than a variety of other top games. even if some of them are a bit of a stretch, or purely opinion, having it out there would get some visibility :)
maybe we could also, or instead, do a user's testimonial page and allow anyone who would like to write why they play cb?

if the given arguments were each in their own thread, the title would be listed in the forum pages/archives, giving it multiple referring links rather than all just being on one...

True, considering the better than runescape is part of the title to a thread.

It might sound a bit daft, but if you start a google blog about carnage, with all your tags attached you're pretty much guaranteed front page of the search hits or as near as counts when people search for the likely tags and content. It's nothing major, but it might get a few more hits if you do it that way. You can include a link to us on the page obviously.

I know Jon + NS probably don't want to make it completely commercial, but I'm sure they'd love to have a large enough influx of users so they don't have to pay much out of their own pockets. So I'm all for these ideas.
dude's blog ~ yesterday in cbland we learned that legal & easy access to as much ganga as ya want might not be "the most awesome thing in the history of...ever!"
I'm working on that JW... it sucks right now, but I had the same idea.
I'd like to see us rank high on such terms as;
cell phone rpg
iPhone rpg
cell phone games (yeah right)
alright I'll start a page, when I have time this weekend. Any ideas for tags?

we could post them here... but isn't that the point of a wiki? :D
I like the idea for a testimonial page.

I remember a time when there was a rather heated argument between myself and Shade. However, in one thread, we were exchanging angry sentiments, while in another, posting at the exact same time, Shade was explaining how certain facets of the specfic stats worked.
Wow, really? I had missed this from the first time I read the thread O.0 but indeed, such things are mute here :)
Unless you have one of those electronic voices reading it all aloud for you.

I think the CB blog, testimonial, etc. are probably good ideas.
I think a page full of tags, however, will simply lead people to that page and they'll go "oh. google bait." and walk away.

Alright I made a scrap page there. I'll improve it this weekend.
Feel free to place your testimonial on the page.
added mine, but just wrote "first!" ; ()
btw can google search the wiki pages?
i googled "there are numerous types of armor any minion may equip. The more powerful the armor, the less damage a minion will take from attacks. Some types of armor have penalties or bonuses to spells and/or stats."
from the glossary for armor entry and google found that.
so now we just need someone to make a testimonials contest! i would do it but my ncb run is taking all my moolah!
am i the only one who appreciates cb enough to leave a testimonial? egads!

I started to write one earlier, but it sucked, so I did something else.
I'd also hold a contest, but I've got that annoying habit of giving all my money away and then having no money to hold a contest. xD So I'm raising money atm.
