T35: Battle Royale (in Contests)

A special Christmas tourney for everyone this time around, this may be your only chance to own a piece of CB history, Koyaanisqatsi!

The rules:

YOU MAY NOT USE AUCTIONS FOR ANY REASON.
Decay is barred
Tattoos are barred
You may fight anyone at any time
There is no BA limit
The tournament will begin on the 27th at noon, and end on the 10th of January at noon.


Winning is simple, the first person to defeat Koy wins.

There will be no second and third place prizes, however, everyone who participates and spends at least 1000 BA will earn 200k.

Because you cannot use auctions, I will supply weapons. You will have access to a BoNE, and a choice between an MSK or an ELB.

I'd just like to point out that the winning condition in this tournament is awesome. I've been reading about many complaints about past tournaments and I've read the conditions. I like the improvements - having to have to beat a specific character, almost like a boss. I'd imagine this would be good for every tournament - and change the strategy of the "boss" character each tournament.

No rave, the weapons stay on the tourney characters.

Oh also, will koy's strategy be unchanged when the tourney starts? No added equipment or anything?

I'm kind of worried about someone attacking Koy to weaken him so a certain tourney character can then beat the weakened opponent. Is it possible to transfer Koy over as a tourney character so that nobody but tourney characters can attack him?

I don't understand how Koy being attacked would weaken him?

kind of like a double tap but with two users hitting instead of one - it is easy enough to watch for.

Let's say you can beat him with the proper strategy at around half his MPR (that's actually less than half his XP), so let's say you'll need 1.8 mil MPR to beat him... IMO, that's actually a conservative estimate.
To get to 1.8 mil MPR (about 40% of top MPR) you would need next to the equivalent of a 40% timespan since CB started - and that would be roughly 200 weeks times 0.4 equal 80 weeks. You will also need to NOT miss any BA at all during those 2 weeks of the tournament.

But... wait... that's calibrated for "all additional daily purchaseable BA used"... so, actually, you will end up about one third lower than that !

To be honest, I'm not sure a 4000% bonus will be quite enough - at the very end of 2 weeks, some MIGHT be in a position to ATTEMPT to beat him, but that's about it.
Personally, I am suggesting at least 5000% bonus, as a bare minimum, preferably even 6000%.

I didn't think I would get into tournaments, but just the chance to maybe read those words, "... defeated Koyaanisqatsi" at the top of my screen is enough to get me interested.

Well that's entirely up to you, but no, there's no inherent advantage to attacking other tourney players.

Well, considering that on average I don't even manage to get to a typical tournament BA cap by the time this is over, and considering it's running in a "pre-holiday RL get-stuff-done" frenzy period (which also include Christmas, when I probably won't even be online at all), I will pre-assume I have basically zero chance of getting a high enough MPR to beat him even with the optimal possible strategy - and I certainly won't be the first one to beat him, even if I do manage to get high enough eventually.
So if I participate at all, best I can hope for is the 200k participation prize (which comes down to basically one and a half day's worth of normal income).

With an NCB of 353% and 11000 battles I'm at 220k MPR. That's in just over two weeks and with only straight fighting and no bought BA.

What's the bonus? 4000%? Given the same amount of growth (and challenge bonuses) that might give you a team of about 2.5 mill MPR. Is that going to be big enough to take out Koy?

JW, I'm sure if you make the team specialize in just killing Koy, yeah probably.

Koy will not exactly have an ironclad strategy, there are pretty obvious weaknesses to it, 2.5m should be plenty of MPR.

Yes, the only money you'll get from this one is the participation prize money.

In my opinion MSK users vs other tourney characters aren't going to want to upgrade their mageseekers as much as the BoNE. Or I see it as a cheaper fix for more damage.

no BA limit means that if you play every day, then you aren't limited to the amount of BA you spend.

You cannot buy BA for Tourney characters but in some Tournaments you get i.e. 4000 BA and have to do whatever it takes with just those 4000 BA.

How would someone get a Mageseeker in a tourney?? Cause Three Magicians has one. I thought the only way to get them is through the auctions.

full DM beats the AS to a pulp, giving the fireball mages only 20 hp, easy picking then for any archer.

Just to be clear, it means if you bid on something with your tournament character and win, I'm going to fine the amount that you paid for that item from your main character.

so if u sell accidentally to store, leave it there, otherwise if u buy with your main chair u gonna be punished coz u are helping ya team with tourney stuff.

Hey it was just a thought. I wouldn't be able to afford my tourny ELB anyways. It sells to the store for 10.5M. My Bone on the other hand sells for 300k :P

If you "transfer" a weapon in that manner, it will be taken away from you. :)

And yes I've tried this with some small armors which I didn't need any more ;)
