Shadow of the Colossus (in Off-topic)

Anyone else ever played this?

I've never seen such an artsy game before; it's awesome. Really pure simple gameplay; only boss fights, all of which have a pretty clever trick behind them. The motion's really well done comparable to some current games. The graphics are really good for an old ps2 game also. I've never seen anything like it though, any similar games out there? Probably the best game I've seen before.

The same developers produced Ico, which supposedly is set in the same universe. It's quite different in terms of gameplay but quite similar in mood and attitude.

I absolutely love Shadow of the Colossus. I always recommend the game whenever someone asks, "What game should I play?". Along with an extremely simplistic gameplay, the ability to have a HUGE world just to investigate is magnificent (although the only things to find are lizards and fruit) -- but still, it's the option.

I've always wanted a sequel (say, for the PS3), but because of Shadow of the Colossus's completely unique style, there really isn't a game "similar" to it, unfortunately.

By the way, the time-trial stuff after you beat the game is VERY fun, but really challenging, especially on Hard mode, since you pretty much have to make a perfect run and not fall down. The time-trial is fun because you get to unlock some pretty cool things to use for your gameplay later, which adds to the 'neat' factor.

I love that game. I have so much respect for the developers; it's one of the most original games I've seen in a long long time.

I tried to, but it's not compatible with HDLoader. >:|

the game was made on the principal that 'less is more' they actually made the game then stripped it down to give more life to the vast expansive area. i personally own both ico and SoC and i enjoy both stories being dark in nature.

I also loved that game. I would highly recommend getting it.

One of my all-time favorite games. And that includes games from the SNES.

I like to think of actually going around and killing the colossi as a sidequest to the actual game, which would essentially be exploring the world. I also like how the story is so vague and thus very open-ended, especially the end.

I'm a bit in the same boat, SNK4R. It's strange how I absolutely WANT a sequel of this game and at the same time, I HOPE none comes out :)

I don't think the spirit of this masterpiece can be reproduced. Heck, even watching someone play the game is fun. Like a Hollywood movie but with soul.

Intense game. PLAY IT. Or watch someone play :P

Hands down one of the must have games for a PS2. Beg, buy, borrow, or steal yourself a copy.

After beating the game, I simply ran around the entire map to look at the extraordinary level of detail they put into the game. Something you can truly get lost in.

Thanks for the tips for the other games. Still working my way through the game, I think I'm on the eighth one. Definitely can tell it's going to be my top favorite game I've ever played.
