I just got a taxis home from work late at night, and we were pulled over for speeding. 55mph in a 35 mph zone. I was surprised at this as it didn't feel like we were going so fast, especially as we had just stopped at lights and unless he put his foot down ( which i would have noticed ) it was unlikely he was at 55. Furthermore the ticket he was given didn't indicate in the allocated places the limit or how far above it we were. It just said exceeding. I am almost certain that he was not speeding, or if he was he wasn't doing 55. The police officer lied. Paying a fine is a big dent for a taxi driver.

The majority of police officers I've run into are complete jerks. No, I am not saying that all police officers are jerks. I'm saying the ones I'VE ENCOUNTERED are usually complete prongs.
But seriously, police officers suck.

it IS the end of the month, you know how it goes. They have to fulfill their quota for the month. Court costs money ya know? :D
He should contest the ticket. Around here, at least, if the officer doesn't show up on the court date to uphold the ticket, the fine and the offense get dropped. And most cops don't bother showing up for contested speeding tickets.
I find it odd to see how many videos there are on the Internet showing police officers abusing their powers.
Welcome to Police State USA.
It's that way here also, CC.
But I always get "lucky" and the cop shows up...just for me *sigh*
But I know some decent cops, and I WAS speeding after all, so I deserved all my tickets. I can't complain too much ;p

I think the cops have pulled me over a total of about 6 times. I've only had one speeding ticket so I can't complain too much. Also, he only ticketed me for 130kph though I know I hit 30 more than that before I saw him. Then again, this was in Quebec and it's nearly impossible to get a ticket there.

I have never been pulled over. One of my close friends is a police officer. He regularly sees me walking down the streets with a group of people who are clearly inebriated and harasses us a bit instead of giving any of us tickets. Cool guy.
Although in my defense, I drive like an old man.

Relative to the amount of non-abusive videos, yeah, of course it seems like a large amount, who would videotape a cop just doing their job correctly and then post it online?
worst speeding ticket i ever got was 75 in a 35 zone

My friend went 75 in a 25 zone, but he did not get a ticket. In his case, cops are never around when you don't want them, it seems. Lucky guy.
