Need help on my weird strat... (in General)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 1 2007 1:31 PM EDT

I've decided to try out a strategy I think is pretty weird and I've never seen before. It should be decently effective in theory but I get my butt kicked, even at the lower levels.

Basic ideas behind my strategy: CoC mage is the main damage dealer. JKF backs it up. Both are backed up by the AS enchanter. The EC on one enchanter helps the JKF out. The 2 enchanters have a small FB to help get rid of base enchanters.

And I still lose, more often than I win, actually. Can you guys give me some ideas or tips on how to improve my strategy?

Don't use CoC. Seriously.

My strat with CoC is working pretty well I think, you can check it out. A PL meat is essential for a CoC strat.

First, you should always train 1,200 hps ish on new teams as it virtually costs nothing and effects sooo many battles, for yours, those that involve DM..

As for the problem with the strat, id say swap EC for GA and you wont have any anymore :P

Can you tell us what type of opponents you lose against.

(not sure if that sentence makes sense)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 1 2007 6:15 PM EDT

I think I get enough HP from AS. And I'm always adding to the AS, so I think I'll rarely need to add HP.

And I remember being told GA for mages was bad because you'd end up getting damaged by your own angel because of AMF backlash.

And uh, I don't really notice what type of strats I lose again, I just notice that I lose more often than not.

GA only causes issues with FB backlash, not AMF.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 1 2007 9:56 PM EDT

Ah, that clears things up. Does anyone else think GA would be more effective than my EC? I could see where GA would be nice, but my JKF is so weak and slow and stuff that I always thought that it'd be necessary for the JKF to even function. Ah, well, guess I'll try it.

GA will serve you better than EC. There's no point trying to get your JKF to compete with any tanks or anything, that's a lost cause before you even begin. =)

Dont use CoC

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 2 2007 3:34 PM EDT

I definitely am going to use CoC. But the question is whether or not I should have evasion on the mage. Is evasion worth it?

QBRanger June 2 2007 4:45 PM EDT

With the new bow and the fact it is auto seeking-definitely!

miteke [Superheros] June 2 2007 8:44 PM EDT

The EC is really only decent for use if your strat focuses on a tank. The JKF is more of a meat shield than a tank and doesn't deserve that kind of help. Thus the GA is preferable. I might also, if I were you, consider trading that JKF for a ToE.

Yes, evasion is nice on mages - really nice. It can shut down an archer at higher levels and severely dampen any tanks damage. But it is really only that nice at higher levels. When you can afford to make it about 250K is when it really kicks in. Until then, don't bother. I mean a lousy -10% to the opponents chance to hit is not worth half of your experience points which is about all you're going to get at low levels. But a massive -150 during the first round of missile is a big bonus. Also with the JKF running interference and the evasion you get from its UC, you can pretty much shield your mage from all but the mageseeker attacks. Using a mageseeker now has a very real cost of not being able to use an ELB, so you can get by without the evasion.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 2 2007 9:08 PM EDT

I want to use the JKF. Sure, there are better alternatives, but I like it because it's rarely used compared to the other tattoos.

[RX3]Cotillion June 2 2007 9:23 PM EDT

So you ask for advice and help on a strat, yet when someone gives you the advice, you respond by saying that you want to use something because it's unique?

I don't think there are many JFK strats, so shouldn't you be trying to make something up yourself?

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 2 2007 10:00 PM EDT

Red, is there a reason why you always try to start with me in threads? I didn't ask for a JKF strat. I asked for advice on how I could better make my strat more effective, without changing the fundamentals.

Flamey June 2 2007 10:03 PM EDT

Any strat that uses a JKF can probably be bettered with another tattoo, it's just like the IF/RoBF/HF.

Anyway, Evasion would help later, so use that, like Miteke said.
