New item coming?
Possibly for mages as it has a base AC of 0.

May 9 2007 5:03 PM EDT
Gloves, base AC 0, adds 2% to AMF per plus. No idea what side it's on, mage booster or nerfer.

May 9 2007 5:05 PM EDT
Hold that, it's a 2% reduction in AMF damage.
honestly, i think they need to be boots, since mages with junction only have AGs right now...

If they're gloves reducing AMF damage then certain spells.....CoC anyone.....will be well served by them. You don't really need AGs with CoC....
BootyGod
May 9 2007 5:16 PM EDT
Try CoC without AGs...
But, I'll make the same point I made in chat. It depends on how the + system works. If they go out like AGs... nah. I can't see it working. But if they work more like EH, or MgS, then awesome. Let some teams learn what it's like to have stats completely neutralized because of a single item. =D
+50 Spellcasters FTW!

It'll be a supporter item, it says Does not Spawn, only Supporter items do not spawn.

I'm thinking, based on +7 being about 60k NW they'll be about +14-15 at 5mil NW? Rough guess...
ToE AMF reduction + Glove AMF reduction = CoC actually being as good as any other magic spell?
I've only been begging for 3 years...
and I'm STILL surprised to see my dream come true!

Actually only damage reduction, but not reducing the effect of AMF, won't give too much edge to mages.... I would love to see each + to reduce 0.02 of AMF effect, though that might never happen :P
:D
This might get me fighting again! :D
Oh the CoC/Decay strats that are starting to germinate!
:D
Supporter item, or Rare Glove trade in? ;)

Do you know what? I hadn't even considered the decay use you could get out these.....

Won't give too much edge to mages, that's right - but it *WILL* allow them to use the AoF now and only recieve damage reduction, instead of increased damage backlash. Higher Evasions is what I'm foreseeing. *grins*

Wow Wasp, thats a bit harsh, think we should thank Jon for the new item rather than bash it to bits before it is even applied in practice...it will prob. be 'tweaked' at a later stage anyway :P

In the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, the Noldor (meaning those with knowledge) are of the second clan of the Elves who came to Aman, the Tatyar. According to legend, the clan was founded by Tata, the second Elf to awake at Cuiviénen, his spouse Tatië and their 54 companions, but it was Finwë, the first Noldo to come to Valinor with Oromë, who became their king, and led most of them to Valinor. They speak Quenya in Valinor, but the exiles who returned to Middle-earth speak Sindarin.
The Noldor are also known as Deep Elves, Golodhrim (by Sindarin-speakers) and Golug (by Orcs). The singular form of the noun is Noldo and the adjective is Noldorin. They are the Second Clan of the Elves in both order and size, the other clans being the Vanyar and the Teleri. They typically had dark hair (except for those who had Vanyarin blood, most prominently the members of the House of Finarfin).

Well, think about it. To use these gloves you must lose your AG's (The best way for mages to make up the exp loss over tanks). That lowers your damage, thus lowering your backlash already, then add these gloves which further lessens the lesser backlash you receive. You might aswell lose your AGs and get some gloves that give AC and train the rest into HP. Unless these gloves go up to +30, I can't see them being any good : /

No, real men fight naked. nuff said
Increasing your DD decreases your AMF damage if you drop a percentage point. I wonder how this balances out, trading AG for NS. A higher DD is harder for AMF to handle, thus lowering AMF. NS lowers AMF as well.

Both lower AMF. But AG increases damage....
1 NS. 2 AG. But I'm still rooting on these new gloves. I wouldn't mind an alternative to AG (if for NO other reason then because it will lower the price a bit on AG)

And the new gloves apparently only lower the backlash, not the DD reduction the AMF imparts. That's important, VERY important.

"Both lower AMF. But AG increases damage.... "
AG lowers AMF's effectiveness by a rather miniscule amount. These are 2% reduction per +, and Jon upgraded them by 7 points for 60k. That's a 14% reduction for 60k. Definitely makes them better than AGs for combatting AMF, so that argument is entirely moot. ^_^

An AMF BACKLASH reduction. Do you have any idea how much Dixie Cousin's AMF reduced the amount of damage Hubbell could actually do to her? The backlash was NEVER the problem. I couldn't kill her before she killed me until I reduced her AS to ash.
Everyone is thinking only of AMF backlash. People, that is only HALF of what AMF does. It is also the EC of magic (except it can't make a mage miss). That's why the curve appears to be shallower for NS upgrades. It would _have_ to be to mean anything at all. The new gloves only work against AMF, and then only work against HALF of AMF's nastiness.
Quite frankly, for FB and MM, I can almost guarantee it's a wash at best. Those spells depend on quick kill, i.e. the OFFENSIVE portion of the magic. NS's will be a detriment to that (because of the AG exclusivity). For CoC and Decay, well, maybe it will help. But this isn't some kind of OH-MY-GOD slam dunk. Nothing in this game ever is.

Backlash is all the problem I've got, personally, with CoC. =P That's the experience I'm going from.

This is an answer to all the whining (which I partook in) about CoC, the only reason it couldn't compete was from the backlash. We proved that, numerous times, I don't think they're supposed to even be used with MM or FB. Mainly the CoC.
Unless AG were being removed it would hardly make sense for them to be better for all mages. They do look limited but could be of use for a strat like Little Devil (the ToE might have it mostly under control). Could be very handy for CoC with or without ToE. Might be useful with some clever AoF strat.

Yeah, for CoC with ToE/NS this will be very nice, if you ask me
Can't wait to try it out!
I can't wait to see th look on all your faces when Jon scraps the item idea and replies with his usual brevity: "Gotcha!"
