i know it has probably been said but seriously it needs something to be competitive

dual weildage weapon

The ELS does have a 50% better chance to hit then the bone or mh.

Talion May 2 2007 2:59 PM EDT

... and it's cheaper to upgrade.

QBRanger May 2 2007 3:05 PM EDT

The top 4 melee weapons have the same upgrade curve for x and +.

AdminNightStrike May 2 2007 3:09 PM EDT

Perhaps that upgrade curve needs to be changed so that (ELS = Bone) > (MH = BTH). As it stands, I'm finding the bone to be a royal pain.

QBOddBird May 2 2007 3:32 PM EDT

But forging a BoNE is a royal pleasure. Best forge efficiency I've seen. ^_^

QBRanger May 2 2007 4:04 PM EDT

Well NS,

If you look at it:

The damage of the Bone and ELS are greater than the MH and Bth. Jon even pointed out the difference in base damage should be significant, statistically.

And the 50% greater chance to hit with the ELS and Bth certainly give a higher PTH then the MH or Bone.

So in conclusion, the ELS should have the best balance of PTH and damage. I say balance not the best weapon.

With TOAs giving tons of PTH, and with strengths hitting 4 million, does the more damage of the Bone over the MH matter? Or does the 50% better CTH for the ELS matter over the MH/Bone?

Personally I think not. As I stated earlier, who cares if your putting an enemy 500k or 3M into the negatives. A decent tank should be able to kill most enemies if they hit in short order. With the PTH, a good tank should hardly miss his opponent unless they have really massive DBs or a huge evasion (both are relatively rare except at the top levels).

Also, the inate VA of the Bth/MH is too good to pass up, especially with DM out there to counter VA. Which is, IMO, the main difference between weapon preference in CB1 and CB2. One can say use a ROS, however there are very high DMs out there that overwhelm even the highest of ROSs

Even if the ELS gave a nice dex bonus, I really do not see many of the top tanks switching to one, give the PTH and TOA PTH they already have on their weapons/character.

Or give them evasion bonus or defensive DX for those who love this term hehe

Nerevas May 2 2007 11:28 PM EDT

And then you put the VB in the mix and the ELS/BoNe truly are worthless.

Sacredpeanut May 3 2007 12:06 AM EDT

Physical damage = (Damage per hit) x (no of hits)

I believe the ELS does around 10-15% less damage per hit than a BoNE at a given NW and PTH so needs to give a tank about 10-15% more total hits to make it worth while.

I'd love to see a big tank test a one handed and two handed weapon with the same PTH against their fight list and report the average number of hits per round in each case to see if the 50% increase in base cth translates to a significant increase in number of hits per round.
