I have tried the dreaded Hal Familiar.
Some good and some bad points.
However, one very bad point that is likely stopping a few others from trying it.
Its PTH, as Sutekh pointed out is broken.
This vs Nemesis, who does not have evasion or DB's on his attacked minion;
Hal shot Avenger [430399]
Avenger's Guardian Angel smote Hal (258239)
Hal shot Avenger [299430]
Avenger's Guardian Angel smote Hal (179658)
Now for sure I know I have a max dex advantage over Avenger with my 2.5M EC. I have yet to see a triple from Hal.
With a tat level of close to 4M, should not the PTH be something to give an extra attack?
Maybe fixing this would let more people perhaps use it?
I definitely agree that the Hal needs some serious buffing. Making this a commonly used tat may bring the JKF into at least semi-common play, as it is a great counter for the Hal. Then, with the JKF being used often, and with the surge of SFBMs there are, the RoBF won't be a bad choice. Because as it stands (with very few exceptions) to be effective anywhere near the top, you have either a ToE or ToA. There are a few decent RoS teams, and a couple near the top who do great with SFs, but you can't say ToE/ToA isn't the way to go for most.

Riddle,
I'm not even typing about a buff, just give it the PTH it should have. Or perhaps it is not destined to have a PTH? In the last changelog, Jon mentioned a buff to its damage AND PTH so I assumed it did have one.
But as we know a 70% buff from 0 is still 0.

PTH is just obviously broken on the HF. Maybe it and the ToA should switch up - drop the ToA's PTH, add it to the HF? =D
so giving it pth wouldn't be a buff? I wasn't asking for miracles with it any more or less than you were. I was basically saying that it needs to be made usable so that others have a reason to take their old tats out of storage, and a reason for players to get a little more original than the current choices.

Riddle,
I think were on the same wavelength.
I think of a buff as something new or added. The PTH is something that should be there to begin with.
But yes, it needs to be there.

You know where I stand... I begged for it back when I tried out the HF too. At that point at least I learned a lot about To-Hit (thanks, NightStrike!). *smile*
At that point, I concluded my 2.5 million level Hal had something like 40-50 pth on him (at the most -- any more would have gotten me a triple)... It would appear that it is even less, since Ranger's tattoo is much larger than that, and still no triples.
Thanks for bringing this up again, Ranger -- I definitely think it needs addressing. Fix the pth or remove poor Hal from the game. Especially when the blows he delivers are so paltry, unable to overwhelm a ToE at a level similar to himself...
Jon said it is a feature until next changemonth ;)

real sad... asked jon if he would fix it next changemonth he said maybe =\ .... hope soon though.... my nub is running out =\ 1month left
I saw his reply. You asked him about fixing HF + AoF, which implies fixing junctioning an AoF, which is broken.
