besides the ignorant and the insane... (in Off-topic)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 13 2007 3:54 PM EDT

...who really thinks I'm just a jerk with no justification for my loathing of certain folks more political or subversive posts?

QBRanger April 13 2007 3:57 PM EDT

I know I am not ignorant, I may very well be insane for playing cb2 as much as I do.

But since you asked---I certainly do.

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] April 13 2007 3:59 PM EDT

Turn about is such fair play, Nov! You're so the best. ;)

GO PATS April 13 2007 4:01 PM EDT

I think everyone should be able to complain about everything that bothers them, if Ranger can do it, why can't you?

QBRanger April 13 2007 4:07 PM EDT

CMM,

You certainly are correct. The forums are basically open pages that we can type our feeling. Even if others completely disagree.

QBJohnnywas April 13 2007 4:18 PM EDT

I love Novice.

GO PATS April 13 2007 4:20 PM EDT

Another point... in chat, people get to the point and give answers or advice or opinions briefly... in the forums, some people write longer ideas down... And I noticed that in chat, some people I talked to seemed to be giving good advice (some not), and that I respected their thoughts... then you go into the forums and get to hear the long winded whinings of those same people... So my point is this...

In chat, you can't really tell peoples true identities, but in forums it may be harder to hide and may give people away... which is really a bonus because the people you may listen to in chat may actually be found to be whiney, immature, closed-minded, bullies you may finally come to realize have little advice about things that really matter and that they just spend all of their time thinking about how to trump people in CB.

Score one for Forums...

Just a thought.

Gandalf April 13 2007 4:23 PM EDT

Your all good Novice hehe :)

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] April 13 2007 4:56 PM EDT

I may not be very talkative, but I can tell you, I read EVERYTHING that goes in the forums. I'm like that in real life too, I like to observe how people interact. So I think I can address the matter with a tiny rant.

My two cents are:

People around here need to freaking chill. And maybe learn to stop interfering in others' buisness.

But this brings forth another side of the matter. Anything posted here is for everybody to see, and everybody has the right to comment. So, for people to stop interfering in everybody's buisness, maybe some matters should just be kept PRIVATE, this way you ensure nobody gives their opinion on your issues.

So, whatever. Give your opinion. You have that right, I think. Without breaking the un-pg rule of course. Are you a jerk for the opinions you openly voice? I don't believe so, but that depends on the point of view of the people that read you. And you have the right to say whatever your opinion is, just as much as anybody has the right to do the same, and just as much as everybody can use CMS to sort problems out.

I swear, sometimes this place is just like 1st grade...

No offense, all, and chill!

AdminNightStrike April 13 2007 6:01 PM EDT

"just as much as everybody can use CMS to sort problems out. "

Actually, you have to be careful, there. It is common for chatmail to make get out of hand and lead to possibly severe punishment.

AdminNightStrike April 13 2007 6:02 PM EDT

novice, the title of your post answers your own question, I think.

Relic April 13 2007 8:58 PM EDT

Haha, I was just about to say something extremely similar NS. If you have to ask if you are a jerk, then most times you are a jerk. Just like if you are playing poker and you are wondering who the chump at the table is, if you are wondering that, 9/10 it is you.

Is every post of yours jerky? Of course not, but there is a certain tact and respectful air that is certainly lacking at times when you post. You do speak rather condescendingly, but ofttimes so do I but hey nobody's perfect. =)

Words to live by are:
"It is more important to be nice than it is to be right."

[T]Vestax April 13 2007 9:28 PM EDT

No problems here. I just figured you were stepping things up a notch since UnderTow isn't around to do his job.

Truth is, it isn't the people who say things outright and without a smile that don't bother me. Its the people who change their story just so that they can seem like they are a nicer person while still trash talking the other guy. I'd like it more if people dropped the act.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 13 2007 9:33 PM EDT

wow, of all the responses the comparison to UT might leave the darkest mark...not that I didn't like him, but I certainly clashed with him on a few occasions...

AdminNightStrike April 13 2007 9:58 PM EDT

Who is UnderTow?

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] April 13 2007 10:18 PM EDT

Who's the cutesy wootsy novice den ?Give momma some smooches !

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 13 2007 10:26 PM EDT

UnderTow

He's an SCA/LARP guy who escaped from here for the most part a while back... Slash...You're scaring me.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 13 2007 10:35 PM EDT

It's funny, I think the last time I really got miffed at Tow was during a period where I was having trouble with my own perspectives about the admins here...oh the joy of irony.

I tend to be most vicious when I see in others the faults I dislike in myself.

Maelstrom April 13 2007 10:43 PM EDT

I like you novice! I find you may go a bit far at times when you stand up for what you believe, perhaps verging on sounding like a jerk. However, I believe that your positive contributions to the community far outweigh the negative.

MegaSlayer09 April 13 2007 11:53 PM EDT

Novice you can think of people how ever you want, its whats you do that makes you who you are, a jerk or not

lol just thought it fit

noneedforthese April 14 2007 12:58 AM EDT

you certainly are passionate about your views, and in your (occasionally) extreme posts people can sometimes miss the justification because they concentrate on the fact that it _seems_ like a personal attack with zero justification.

I personally think you have justification, it just may be that you need to spell them out clear cut and cold without angst and then maybe people will pay more attention to your reasoning than your anger :)

but seriously, people have incredibly wide and varying points of view, and some things that seem to completely make sense to me makes no sense to another, and vice versa.

rock on, because who are we if we just let the big and powerful pin us under their thumbs? x-D

You rock novice. So do the people who love you. So do the people who hate you :)

QBOddBird April 14 2007 1:29 PM EDT

Wayyyy too much man-hugging here today, Titan. If you give me a hug, you owe me 5 bucks. >.<

Nov, sometimes you can be a jerk, and sometimes you can be the best thing since sliced bread. You have full justification for hating some of these posts lately, though.

Forums is like reading through a dirty pig pen a lot lately. Lots of flung mud, too. Must be some monkeys in there. Not pointing to you though, Barzoo, you're one of my favorite monkeys. Or ponies, whichever you are. You're My Little Pony. The one with the little pink heart on its rump.

BootyGod April 14 2007 1:36 PM EDT

/me hugs OB

I kind of agree with what OB just said. Most of you are adults and aren't politicians. So... act like it :)

QBJohnnywas April 14 2007 1:46 PM EDT

Can I just say it again? I love Novice.

QBOddBird April 14 2007 1:47 PM EDT

If I love you, JW, can me and you and novice have a love triangle? 0=)

From: QBOddBird YOU. OWE. ME. FIVE. DOLLARS.

QBJohnnywas April 14 2007 1:53 PM EDT

Only a triangle? I was thinking more of an octagon or something....

AdminG Beee April 14 2007 4:30 PM EDT

drunk

You know, beer really is the answer to all.
After a few (or several) you really do understand that all the latest shenanigans on forums come from people who would never actually dare to say to your (or anyone elses for that matter) face.

I've never in my life known anyone to be as obnoxious to me in person as people are to each other on the CB forums.

In defence of CB however I must admit that the forums here are far superior in every way to any experience I've had on other sites.

Pre-pubescent adults and people who were bullied at school always voice their "long held" opinions behind the anonimity of the computer keyboard.

QBOddBird April 14 2007 4:31 PM EDT

Blast....I just realized the title disqualifies me....disregard my post

JW, the octagon sounds good, and great timing too - it is Mrs Beee's birthday ~_^

AdminG Beee April 14 2007 4:31 PM EDT

Oh, that wasn't at you btw Novice. This was just the first thread I found.

As I've told you already - I love you.

That said, I think I love everyone right now :)

AdminG Beee April 14 2007 4:33 PM EDT

JW and GL aren't picking up their phones tonight. Boo hoo...
