This isnt for a congratulations, only for a record of what i think is going to happen to it... I've been well ahead a few times before, but then, within a couple hours, i get bumped down to ~7-8k points behind LD... It annoys the hell out of me when it happens.

then fight more :)

and on a side note Go LD Go!!

TheHatchetman February 10 2007 12:40 PM EST

wow... it looks like its actually staying there this time. As far as fighting more, can anyone explain how i lost ~15k points within hours, twice?

Timberwolf February 10 2007 12:49 PM EST

That's a snapshot of 30 days worth of points.
What were you and the others doing 30 days ago?
Combine that with what you are doing today, and you have your answer.

It's the same phenomenon like you can lose 2k point in 1 hour time for a day...

So, the two times it dropped massively was because i had challenged 5-6k battles in an hour or so? that doesn't sound right...

The way I understand it, this is a rolling sum.
The numbers you see are from exactly 30 days.
As each hour passes, the past hours totals are added, and the past hours totals from 30 days ago are subtracted.
Therefore, you have to take into consideration what you were doing 30 days ago, as well as what you are doing right now, today.
You also have to consider what those around you were doing 30 days ago.
If they weren't doing anything they are going to see huge gains.
Those that were very active 30 days ago, that aren't active today, are going to see huge losses.

It may also be because how the statistics are collected and stored. I believe CB collects statistics like these on an hourly basis. If it were to store those for the full year, that would obviously require a lot of disk space.
Because of that, I expect it to only store fully detailed stats for the past few hours, and for anything older than that the samples are averaged over a few measurements (daily, weekly, monthly for example).
This means that a lot of disk space is saved, but also that the stats become less reliable, the farther back in time you go (because of rounding errors).

that would explain it a bit better, thanks bart. Thank you for your input Timber, but that isn't the issue, there's no way i spent 5-6k BA in a couple hours. It's just not possible. But if its averaged, that explains the huge differentials :) Although, it makes it kinda odd that the yearly scores seem so consistant...

1 battle = 3 points (or should be ;)

"i lost ~15k points within hours, twice"

i say 6k BA because of the occasional loss, draw, or 2pt person I'd forget to take off.
