Well, here I am. On a Saturday afternoon, at work in an unheated office.
Not because I have to work late, but because my computer at home has died.
As Mr. Praline would have said it:
'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This computer is no more! He has ceased to be!
'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace!
If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies!
'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket,
'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-COMPUTER!!
Preliminary post-mortem suggests it's the motherboard (I've already attempted 2 power supply transplants, but that didn't help). I haven't decided yet how to replace it.
I could try the Frankenstein approach, but I'm afraid too many parts needs to be replaced to make that work. I have no idea how soon I get it back working.
For now this means that I'm a bit limited in the amount of time I can spend on CB and I'll also be without chat.
Last sign of life was around 11am yesterday:
