usd blender ~ making the best of it (in General)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 20 2006 11:20 AM EST

this is probably going to be the most unpopular idea ever, at least with all those spending cash like it grows on trees.

we now have both xp and cash rewards using the same ratio, opponents score to your pr. what if we tied one of them to net worth? i guess cash reward would make most sense. so say cash rewards are figured on a net worth to net worth ratio. if you have higher net worth than your opponent, you get reduced rewards. if you can beat someone much higher you get rewarded for it.

this would also do something to hold back the runaway flat weapon damage upgrade mania. it would also reward the "pure" players and give all players one more bit of strategy to use in optimizing their team/rewards.

So the players who spend lots of $USD make ultra-low cash rewards
and have to spend more $USD to increase their NW while the "pure"
players make mucho cash rewards and end up floating in cash which
they ... spend on NW ? until everyone is equal ?
Or do they sell their $CB to the ones to have to buy it with $USD ?
Ensuring that their NW stays low and their opponents' high, thus
continuing the cycle ?
Sounds nice, but I don't know if it would work.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 20 2006 11:33 AM EST

i assume stopping the cycle is not a concern, we have had almost two years in this version of cb to do just that and it hasn't been done as of yet. if anything the cycle has been aggravated by the flat damage cost of upgrades on weapons. so why not go further and embrace the usd blenderdom?

also the top ten would not be immune as they are with the other rewards now in place.

Interesting idea... I still say do away with all user-user transfers. *smile*

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 20 2006 12:04 PM EST

already partially like that, there has always been a reward penalty for NW disparity...or at least there was...might have been removed with NW-PR.

PoisoN December 20 2006 12:05 PM EST

I like that idea :D

Kong Ming December 20 2006 12:14 PM EST

One question: Will this affect the top 10 in the standings since most of them should have large nw? If they "fight down", will they get lower rewards as well?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 20 2006 1:31 PM EST

I still say remove the top ten exemption, and this is an interesting idea. ;)

Make rewards lower the higher you get, would allow people to catch up without the need for a bonus.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] December 20 2006 1:38 PM EST

it already is in place with the NW-PR calculation...

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 20 2006 2:03 PM EST

the nw/pr link is really effective since the top ten are exempt from it. it just makes it so that once you get in the top ten you need to jack up that nw enough to stay there. this change would allow all others to actually have a chance at catching up if the top ten were not exempt from the new cash rewards ratio or at least gain a little without resorting to usd to boost items.

i am not sure if it would work or not, but i do know that the system as it is now is making usd the only option and i predict it will only worsen as the gap widens. this would also give low minion-count teams an advantage as it is easier to keep cost down on fewer minions. there seems to be little other advantage other than xp dilution, however as the cost goes up for abilities that advantage helps less and less.

TheHatchetman December 20 2006 2:12 PM EST

So, you guys are basically saying that those who play diligently for a couple of weeks after long periods of dismall performance should be able to catch up to those who have been playing every 2 and a half to 3 hours since the start?

ehh... doesn't make sense to me, but I won't really complain seeing as I'm benefitting from a NUB :-)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 20 2006 2:24 PM EST

within the top 20 scores there is a range of battles fought from 200k to 700k. it appears that the top ten are ranked more by nw rather than amount of battles fought though.

just as the nub helps new users who have no chance of ever catching up with the top if all are fighting the same this change would give non usd spenders a way of closing the gap without resorting to doing the same. it doesn't have to be a large bonus or that big of a variance, it just seems that something is needed though and why not give the people who keep their nw low, either by choice or not some kind of reward for doing so?

i guess this all stems from reading the thread about mage vs. tank and seeing that at the top end there are little choices to be had. i would just like to see us adding some choices back into the mix rather than removing them.

sounds liek a good idea to me but hey, nobody listens to the old gandalf do they now.?
