PL allows Decay to kill (Or Decay lets a minion kill themselves with P (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 19 2006 7:02 AM EST

An interesting little effect. From the fight log.

Kano-san's blow was dodged by Aegis
El Modinnho's blow was dodged by Aegis
Modeath's Decay hit Divine Shield [7]

Kano-san bruised Aegis [6864]
Divine Shield absorbs damage [8]
Kano-san draws strength from his weapon! [2035]
El Modinnho's blow was dodged by Aegis
Modeath's Decay hit Aegis [48941]

R.I.P. Divine Shield

In the first round, Divine Shield had 14/15 HP left, taking 7 from Decay (And had absorbed 15 damage from PL in the round before). In the next round, Divine Shield absorbed 8 damage from PL and died. Leaving the Decay free to hit my second minion.

Is this intended?

not decay killed you, it was Kano-San whos damage was absorbed
Decay did no damage when you had only one point left ....
(i tried)

But the question stays, should a PL minion kill himself by absorbing damage ....

AdminShade December 19 2006 8:11 AM EST

the absorbed PL damage shouldn't kill the minion, Decay has no part in it imo.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 19 2006 8:46 AM EST

My minion has never once killed itself before form PL absorb. Only in this fight where he also takes Decay damage.

Somehow, Decay and PL are interacting in such a way as to allow the minion to kill itself.

Opps. ;)

Just did another check by attacking higher targets than usual.

Divine Shield kills himself using PL. He will now abosrb down to zero HP.

Change in the air for PL, or a bug?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 19 2006 11:44 AM EST

always worked that way for me...

QBRanger December 19 2006 11:46 AM EST

A minion has always been able to die from absorbed PL damage.
Been that way since PL came out, there have been a few posts on this subject.

If you use DM, decay can be quite nasty since a PL minion will attempt to absorb all the decay damage.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 19 2006 1:49 PM EST

I'm sure PL used to work that a minion wouldn't absorb enough damage to kill them.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 19 2006 1:59 PM EST

No GL... PL doesn't work liek that. >_< You can kill yourself with it...

But something still sticks me as wrong here. I'm just too tired to figure it out.

In the first round DS had 15 HP. Decay hit him for 7, leaving him with 8.

In the second round, he absorbed 8 damage, but should only have taken 7.2.

So I assume that he damage taken was rounded up to 8, killing him?

AdminG Beee December 19 2006 2:29 PM EST

Isn't just about everything rounded up in the land of CB? I seem to recall Jon mentioning that sometime previously.

AdminShade December 19 2006 4:18 PM EST

G_Beee...

"In the first round DS had 15 HP. Decay hit him for 7, leaving him with 8.

In the second round, he absorbed 8 damage, but should only have taken 7.2. "

Wouldn't it be that he had taken 8 damage then? (15/2 = 7.5 rounded up this is 8)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 19 2006 6:25 PM EST

Hmmm.. I suppose he could have had exactly 14 HP. Took 7 from the decay, leaving him with 7.

PL then absorbed 8 as he actually took 8 * .9 or 7.2 which rounded down to 7 and killed him?

:/

AdminNightStrike December 20 2006 2:36 PM EST

Divine shield had 14 HP. He got hit with a decay, bringing it down to 7 HP. That allows him to absorb 7 / 1.1 = 8 (I know, it should be 7 * .9 = 8, but it's not, hence my constant bug reports that don't get acknowledged). On the next round, he absorbs those 8 points of damage and dies.

Obviously, PL can kill a minion. What you may be thinking of is the fact that PL can't reduce a minion below 0 HP.
