Who says NUB forging is a waste? (in General)

Morthak November 23 2006 6:59 PM EST

I've forged $968,321 in the last 24 hours, and I haven't even used all my BA. Sure, I'm not getting any XP, but you can't generate anywhere near that much $$ consistently fighting.

I'm never going to be a top 20 contender, but if I had started forging a little sooner, I would have had some kicking gear.

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] November 23 2006 7:13 PM EST

With NUB's forging, us poor vets can't get good deals unless we drop our rates a bunch. It really sucks trying to get a forge job when most NUB charge 65% if even that high. But your NUB will be gone one day and then where will you be? No high character.... maybe a little bit of money and items? Not nearly enough to get yourself a good NCB but thats the way it works.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] November 23 2006 7:15 PM EST

You've forged that much in NW or that's how much money you've made for forging for people or what? What?

Kong Ming November 23 2006 7:19 PM EST

I did an experiment the other time and you are probably going to get more money by fighting with a nub unless you have a massive character. And you will have to charge at least 75% or 80% to make it worthwhile. Do your sums.

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 23 2006 7:57 PM EST

if you can do 1m forging a day with a ncb/nub forger... and u can maintain that for a month...

thats 30m forged... assuming thats like 50%... u got urself 15m money, well more than enough to buy a big character.... and pump it up hella good.

Kong Ming November 23 2006 8:06 PM EST

If you are able to do so much forging, you can probably earn a lot more from fighting plus you'll get a massive character at the end of it :p

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] November 23 2006 8:15 PM EST

No one's answered my question. When Morthak says he's forged $968,321, does that mean how much he's added to the NW of the item(s) he's forged or does it mean how much profit he's made or what?

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] November 23 2006 8:20 PM EST

That is in forging stats so it can't be the cash he has earned, the Forging for 24 hours has to be NW or it wouldn't be there, it can't calculate what each person charges.

Darkwalker [Jago] November 23 2006 8:33 PM EST

assuming he forged 1mil nw and charged 65%, then the cash that he earned will be 650k... correct, morthak?

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 23 2006 8:36 PM EST

correct, and if he can keep that up for a month... thats a lot of cash... 19.5m to 20m+ assuming its 30-31 days

Kong Ming November 23 2006 8:36 PM EST

Nope, there is still forging fees of 15% or 20% to be paid for using the blacksmith.

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 23 2006 8:38 PM EST

is it actually 15-20% for sure? or does that differ from items...
if so that breaks it down to 50% min... which is still 15m a month :P

Kong Ming November 23 2006 8:39 PM EST

15% if you are in economic clan and 20% if not. But he can make a lot more from fighting.

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 23 2006 8:47 PM EST

i am still pretty sure that thats more than anyone can make in a day... fighting... correct me if i am wrong.

Morthak November 23 2006 8:48 PM EST

Actually, I'm just forging my own gear, but the 968k number is the NW I've added to my gear in 24 hours through forging. If I were forging at 70%, give or take, since I'm in an economic clan, I'd be making 55% profit on forging. Bottom line, with my 864k PR char, I can forge a ton of NW and could use the proceeds from just a week or two to buy a much bigger char than I could ever build.

Kong Ming November 23 2006 8:48 PM EST

Not too sure about. It really depends on whether he bought any BA to forge and its probably over 2 days and not one.

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 23 2006 8:50 PM EST

he just told u what he does :P

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] November 23 2006 8:51 PM EST

What's the fun in buying a character though? I'd rather save up the amount of money needed to buy all my BA during NCB and make it super extremely strong.

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 23 2006 8:53 PM EST

yea Op, i believe there was a thread about this earlier. As to why people pump the money into an ncb, when it would cost well over 30m, instead of buying a big character for like 8m max...

the reason that stood out in my opinion... was that people like having the satisfaction of making the char on their own... as do i :P

Kong Ming November 23 2006 8:57 PM EST

It really depends on what you want. May I ask how many BA did you use to get to $968,321. Multiply that number of BA by an average of 500 to 600 (depends on what are the rewards for your fights). I believe you can actually earn more than $968,321.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] November 23 2006 8:59 PM EST

...I definitely don't even get anywhere close to near even half of 500-600 per fight.

Kong Ming November 23 2006 9:05 PM EST

You mean you have nub and you are not earning that amount per fight? You should seriously consider changing your fightlist ;) I average around 500 per fight now, maybe more.

Kong Ming November 23 2006 9:07 PM EST

okay, I just fought another 8 BA and I earned an average of 600 for the 8 battles. :)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] November 23 2006 9:43 PM EST

Oh. I'm dumb. I was looking at exp. Moneywise, I gain around there per fight.

Xenko November 23 2006 9:51 PM EST

I wish I had a NUB... I don't make anywhere near that much per fight :(

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 23 2006 9:51 PM EST

what is the NUB percent bonus
and what is the NCB percent bonus

do both effect money and Exp gained... or just one each.

/me needs more info on the NCB/NUB...

also maybe add nub to the dictionary?
they say it is not a word... i guess that is correct, but we use it frequently ... *sigh*

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] November 23 2006 9:51 PM EST

Also, sorry for the double post, but do, you don't make more money than that by fighting daily. You have to also buy your BA, which costs a lot. You still walk away with a profit at the end of the day, but not anywhere near 1 million.

Morthak November 23 2006 9:52 PM EST

For quite a while (6-8 week), when I was consistently fighting scores 3x my PR, I was averaging 1000 per fight in rewards. Once I hit about 600k PR, that went downhill. Now I average about 500 per fight. Figure I used ~800 BA, the fight rewards would have been ~400k rather than 968k added to my weapon.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 23 2006 10:08 PM EST

I'd still like to see how much NW a new user could add with 7/10 BA refresh...does anyone know what the record for someone with the NUB is...

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] November 23 2006 10:13 PM EST

Hyrule, the NUB and NCB both have the same percentage if both created while the top character is on the same pr.
The only difference is that NUB gains the bonus to both money and experience while the NCB only gains the bonus to experience.

Kong Ming November 23 2006 10:42 PM EST

"Now I average about 500 per fight. Figure I used ~800 BA, the fight rewards would have been ~400k rather than 968k added to my weapon."

You mean you can add 968k nw with just 800 BA? Wow, that would be really amazing 0_0

velvetpickle November 24 2006 12:27 AM EST

what is your ncb %

My NUB was 168% you figure the top character under you is 350k forging for 24hrs. 200% bonus on that would be $1,050,000 and he is at 1.1mil MPR to your 860k.... seems hard to believe.

TrueDevil [AAA] November 24 2006 12:27 AM EST

I don't believe that you can get a job non stop everyday for a straight 3-4 months or whatever. In the end, fighting is much better. Don't forget that you still can get money from the character you build and the tattoo.

Kong Ming November 24 2006 3:52 AM EST

But you might be better off forging now because its getting hard to get good rewards these days. I used to be able to hit $800 per fight on some occasions but not anymore when I'm higher up. :(

AdminNightStrike November 24 2006 5:03 AM EST

I'll keep your forge queue filled, Morthak........
