Does Evasion still stack with DB? (in General)

YOU March 7 2006 4:06 PM EST

if it still does, what are the number?

AdminShade March 7 2006 4:09 PM EST

There are both rumours it does:

in a linear way: (+100) + (50 skill effect) = 150

or in a total level way: (50 skill effect) + (+100) = total skill level which would perhaps be a total of ~110 ish (this number is speculation and holds no truth)

in short: yes they stack but how, we don't know.

From changelog "Evasion skill and related items now stack differently; instead of evasion 30 + DB 30 = 60, it now stacks the way enchantments do: in this example, the total would be 39.
Don't know of anyone that has done any investigations into this.

i have evasion (51) + named DB(+100) and BazooMonkey UC +123 hit me ...a lot. Only if he can confirm his UC(?).

My guess on this is:

lets say +10 on DB's = 100k NW>p> 10 evasion and +100 DB's would be equal to:
100 evasion from DB's,
then the evasion your DB's would have if you had the extra 100k NW (10
evasion =100k NW on DB's, for example)

of course, thats just how I took it, no testing went into that hypothesis at all :)

so it stacks like enchantment(s) which has penalty but is this penalty linear or curve as hell.
To Jon : I need another "for example" to solve this equation. I have 3 variables and 2 equations, so that you knew i won't be able to solve anything with it.

If you mean Sensei Boopadoo on Dogs of War, UC is (98)... (if I put his gear on The Artful Dodger, Dodger goes up to (124), but I haven't done that since Sunday morning).

I don't know if this info will help you at all, but this is from a typical play-by-play from today:

Your Dispell Magic fizzles my Haste, so that is out of the equation. It took 2 melee rounds to kill Azn Monk - Sensei struck twice in round 3 and 1X in round 4, Jack The Bear struck 1X in each round, and that's with a 2-handed weapon...

The character that those 2 minions have trouble hitting is Azn RiCe with the big DX...

Haterz, you have it all wrong. Enchantments do not actually get weaker when they stack, they just don't stack in a way that gives you extra xp. For example:

5k of Protection gives you an effect of 7 (whatever that means) but 5k Protection + 5k Protection results in and effect of 9. Now, you would assume you lost 5 effective points of protection when they stacked, but you're wrong. The issue lies in how Protection works, not in how it stacks. 5k Protection + 5k Protection stacks correctly as 10k Protection. Given how Protection curves, 10k does indeed only get you an effect of 9.

Just to show that nothing is lost you should look to see how Dispel Magic stacks. Dispel Magic, unlike Protection has a linear relationship between it's level and it's effect. In fact, the effect of Dispel Magic is very easy to solve for. It is exactly 80% of the spell level. So 5k in Dispel Magic yields an effect of exactly 4k. Stacking two 5k Dispel Magic enchantments will get you 8k in effect. Why? Because 10k of Dispel Magic does indeed equal 8k in effect.

Now think about it, which is Evasion more like? Is it like Protection of is it like Dispel Magic. The answer is clear, its like Protection, therefore, when they stack, the effect does not grow linearly because Evasion itself does not grow linearly.

just like vestax said, their combined level does increase but their combined effect is based on the new level, not on both separate levels added to each other.

(which is why I am still calculating things for evasion to give people an idea on what their combined evasion would be)
