Fighting no working & lost a bunch of BA? (in General)

DAWG March 4 2006 3:09 PM EST

I lost a few 100 BA since Jon did what ever boot change that he did because I saw a bunch of system messages then boom can't fight, my ba went away and then it suspended me for not fighting which was really weird.

bartjan March 4 2006 3:11 PM EST

You don't lose BA when a server restarts..

Please, remove that brick from the shift key.

DAWG March 4 2006 3:33 PM EST

well bud I don't make false posts... I did loose quite a bit of ba, I had just bought a bunch, the fought a little and then the server restarted or what ever it did... Then when i was able to see my BA again on the home page most of it was all gone and none had been restored to the amount that I could purchase...

So yes I did lose BA, I have been playing long enough to know these kind of things, and I DO NOT make false posts and if I do I always admit when I am wrong.

and what would the shift key have to do with anything!

bartjan March 4 2006 3:39 PM EST

Shouting.... lot's of people now have hearing problems because of your post.

If the server restarts, it rolls back to a previous state as saved to disk. This means that cash, XP and BA all roll back to whatever they were when you trained or clicked 'update stats'.

Mikel [Bring it] March 4 2006 3:43 PM EST

I had zero ba, purchased only 150, because I knew I'd get the 7 shortly.... and then went to my home page and discovered 160. So I know something happened. So where did the extra ba come from and exacly how much did I lose?

[T]Vestax March 4 2006 3:49 PM EST

My heart bleeds for you. I would like to refer you to one of my own posts. Maybe we can finally get that class action suit up and running.

DAWG March 4 2006 3:52 PM EST

Yes I do understand what a restart does I have been in the middle of a bunch but never this exact scenario amd I had never lost BA usually after a restart you end up with a little extra if you were fighting right befor the restart.

I am not shouting but I felt this was an important post and I was looking for some answers not sarcastic and rude responses.

What do you expect when your title is in caps lock?

AdminShade March 4 2006 4:09 PM EST

Fixed thread title, np :)

chappy [Soup Ream] March 4 2006 4:11 PM EST

I'm just curious about why you are not allowed to have the title in caps ... I mean nobody said a word about ... this

[T]Vestax March 4 2006 4:11 PM EST

I was going to wait until he got flamed a bit more Shade. :P

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] March 4 2006 4:12 PM EST

Hah, Chappy I think it's a little bit different when the name of the item being sold happens to be in all caps. But it's still pretty obnoxious to name your item in all caps.

[T]Vestax March 4 2006 4:15 PM EST

Thanks for pointing that out chappy. Yeah the item's actual name is in caps, but I suppose the thread shouldn't be. It would have been better to say 'Named Vorpal Blade' or 'Largest Vorpal Blade in game'

DAWG March 4 2006 4:52 PM EST

you guys are so ridiculous... nobody really focused on the point of my thread... all of you just concentrated on the small in significant parts....

Yes i am aware of the CAPS rule but I was informed that it only applied to FS/WTB threads.

Forum area is General, which means any kind of post what so ever.
Also lots of people make small insignificant posts that aren’t really important.

My thread I felt was very important, I know people make threads about losing BA but usually there is a reason found for that or they just miscalculated.

I know I didn't miscalculate and I did lose some BA and I wanted an answer on it, not 20 replies about my title...

Also instead of just keeping certain rules implied why don't you guys start placing the rules somewhere instead of just expecting people to know... I know this rule but obviously I didn't know it exactly, and if a NUB was to post something with CAPS in the FS/WTB forum than they would probably get fined and that just isn't right.

Again please read my subject and question I would like answers or a fix on that instead of useless responses... thanks guys/girls

chappy [Soup Ream] March 4 2006 4:56 PM EST

DAWG - I wanted to add this just so we're clear ..

I didn't experience this issue like you did and that's why I didn't comment on it .. I did, however want to comment on everyone remarking about your title .. I'd make a post with urgency if the same had happened to me also ..

That's my $.02

[T]Vestax March 4 2006 5:00 PM EST

As you say there isn't an answer for it. It just happens. I happens mostly when Jon makes changes to the game, which he did. That's how you can tell if he's working on something most of the time. As for me, my first post was on topic. My point was that you're not the only to lose BA and in the grand scheme of things it means nothing. Granted it's xp time, and it was a lot of BA and probably cost you a lot of money, but in the end it will amount to drops of water in an ocean.

AdminJonathan March 4 2006 5:05 PM EST

like bart already pointed out, CB is transactional

if you lose BA, you also get back the money you paid for it

but if you're bent on ranting instead of paying attention I can see how this could be easy to miss...

Vicious Cat March 4 2006 5:41 PM EST

I can't work out, is it a load of insignificant posts in significant threads?

;-)

DAWG March 4 2006 11:53 PM EST

"but if you're bent on ranting instead of paying attention I can see how this could be easy to miss..."

what are you talking about, if I didn't pay attention I would have never mentioned this...

"if you lose BA, you also get back the money you paid for it "

Also the $ part I was not worried about I was pointing out loss of BA not loss of $... and also if I was to get back the $ that I used to purchase the BA why would the BA not be credited back to the amount I had left to purchase...

I am done with this thread but i just wanted to clear things up, I know nothing will be done about this problem that happened and I am sure it probably only affected me because it was a timing issue and I know that...

But it would be nice if when things like this happen to people, instead of just making excuses somebody would do something to fix it...

I am a very easy going guy and I don't complain about much at all, but BA is one of those things that you can't get back it isn't like money and exp that you can get back BA if you loose it it is gone for good... it is sad to see how people get mistreated here on CB and very few things are done to make up for "transactional" mistakes... I have been lucky in the past because of my fellow clan member Ranger helping me get repaid on lost cash with loans, and seems like allot of people get miss treated and easy fixes for it are just a few clicks away but those few clicks never happen, the usually fixes that happen here on CB are all the same, somebody usually tells the person who had a problem tough luck..

Wow that was long and jumbled sorry for that I ain't too good with the grammar so I hope Bast doesn't come along and hit me down for that too... :-)

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] March 5 2006 7:31 AM EST

There is no problem, there is no bug, what do you not get?

There was a rollback, you lost the BA, you regained the $ and if you were in chat you would have noticed that Jon would have warned people to train as he does 99.9% of the time.

There is nothing to fix here other than your verbal diarrhea.

Mikel [Bring it] March 5 2006 11:01 AM EST

I was in chat, I didn't see Jon say anything.
Also you must have reading/comprehension problems if you didn't read my post.
I'll try typing it a bit slower this time.
I had zero BA, purchased 150, leaving space for my 7 from that I would get from the time change, because I am in synch with CB2 time. Next thing I know I'm maxed out at 160, before I even get to my first fight. So in essence how much BA I lost, I will not know, but the same thing applies to DAWG.

One way to fix this would be to remove the 160 cap when a reset happens, maybe a 20 minute time limit to give people a chance to spend their BA again?

Zoo, next time you feel like flinging poo, do it in the monkey section before you come to the forums.

bartjan March 5 2006 11:06 AM EST

Everyone has read FAQs->BA ??

Mikel [Bring it] March 5 2006 1:55 PM EST

What is your point Bart? it says nothing in there about Server Resets, which don't happen very often, but to more active players it can mess them up. And even a couple times previously I thought I had spent all of my BA, only check in a few minutes later to find that I have 160 again. I pay very close attention to 3 things in here, my MPR, BA and CB2. I'm talking about if there is a server reset it should give you all of your BA back that you had and if that number exceeds 160 then you won't accrue any more on the next 10 minute interval. So I don't see how that quick fix would be difficult and at the same time be a nice touch so that people wouldn't feel cheated. In my case, the right thing would've been to give the money back and put the purchasable ba back to where it was then give me all of my ba that I had accrued. Seems like that would be harder to code and get right than the method I mentioned.

Maelstrom March 5 2006 2:26 PM EST

If you've bought BA, the number of BA you have can be greater than 160. If there's a rollback, you will only get at most 160 BA, and you don't get the money back from the BA you might have bought.

This happened to me when I had first started my NCB character: I bought 300k worth of BA, there was a rollback, and I lost all of it, without any compensation.

Mikel [Bring it] March 5 2006 2:30 PM EST

I realize that, I was costing me almost 500k per day just to buy BA. Fortunately, this change happened after my NCB expired.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 5 2006 2:30 PM EST

Well there is a second stated instance from an extremely reputable source...any chance of the mucky mucks paying enough attention to give us something more than "that didn't happen, you're wrong and stupid"..

AdminG Beee March 23 2006 3:42 PM EST

For the record - I'm with the DAWG on this one.

Bought my 150 BA and spent the cash. Server hiccup... back to only 12 BA and the spent cash is still gone.

C'est la vie I guess...
