renting your own items to lower your NW and your PR (in General)

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] January 18 2006 2:22 AM EST

Is this a possible strategy to increase your rewards?

You rent your high levels items for 1000 cb a month, so your NW decreases, and thus your PR.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] January 18 2006 2:25 AM EST

What makes you think rented items don't add to PR when equipped may I ask.

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] January 18 2006 2:31 AM EST

They add to your PR, of course, with or without renting them.

But when your items are rented, their NW is removed from your total NW.

So if you rent your own items, the part of your PR coming from items will stay the same, but your NW will decrease highly. Since there is a part of your PR coming from your NW, you could artificially decrease your PR to artificially raise your rewards.

No?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 18 2006 2:41 AM EST

no...

Items you rent add to your NW and PR(if they are equipped) so what you are thinking is wrong. Renting your own items also would result in the same thing so trying that would just be a waste of money but go ahead and waste your money if you wish since you are penalized for renting your own items.

QBJohnnywas January 18 2006 2:45 AM EST

Waste of time. Your PR is only increased by items that are equipped.

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] January 18 2006 2:48 AM EST

I believed NW was also used to compute your PR, wasn't it?

(CB1)logan666 [Jago] January 18 2006 2:52 AM EST

The NW of items equipped do effect your PR but for weapon NW their is an "allowance" that will not effect your PR based on your teams total experience. I can't remember exactly but I believe it's 1/10 your teams total experience that is given for weapon allowance.

(CB1)logan666 [Jago] January 18 2006 2:54 AM EST

I should also add that anything above this weapon allowance will add to your PR.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] January 18 2006 2:59 AM EST

It is only the NW of each item equipped which has an effect. The net worth as shown when you inspect a character does not. Incidentally I have always thought it would make more sense to show the equipped NW when inspecting characters as I'm not interested in how much stuff they have, just what's on the character. Or maybe show 2 values, equipped and total.

maulaxe January 18 2006 3:01 AM EST

I think that your misconception is about what NW is calculated from...

it sounds like you were thinking that your NW is taken from all the items you own, and that a rented item - because it isn't really yours - won't add to your NW.

that is not the case. NW is the total value of all the items equipped, regardless of whose they are.

(that might be a totally wrong assumption to make, but that is what the original question sounded like you were thinking...)

AdminShade January 18 2006 4:40 AM EST

item NW added PR is only applied to equipped items :)

so renting out some of your higher items has no impact on your PR whatsoever... :)

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] January 18 2006 6:12 AM EST

maulaxe was right. i believed NW was the nw of the items you possess.

But in this case, is there a way to estimate how wealthy a user is?

Special J January 18 2006 6:16 AM EST

No, not like you are wanting.

You can add up the items they have that show on the listings, if you know the ~networth of the + on those items you can sort of estimate.

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] January 18 2006 6:17 AM EST

Maulaxe, there is still a problem with the NW. unequipped items are counted towards the NW, but not the items you are renting.

sssimmo January 18 2006 6:22 AM EST

If you rent an item and put it on your character, you then incur the NW penalty which comes with that item. Less to the point, if you rent an item, according to item stats, you own that item.

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] January 18 2006 6:27 AM EST

Then special J (and the others) I think it would be interesting to make public the total NW of all items and cash possessed by a user.

Do not you think?

sssimmo January 18 2006 6:30 AM EST

Are you asking that it should be known the total NW a person owns including rentals? If you are....why does it matter?

sssimmo January 18 2006 6:31 AM EST

Sorry missed the part of "wouldn't it be interesting". Disregard "does it matter" :P

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] January 18 2006 6:42 AM EST

I do like statistics. If the names are not made public, then at least the admins could make public the top 10% of the richest players (the amounts, not the names), and the 10% of the poorest ones.

At least this is done in the real life with tax and properties incomes.

I do not know your point of view, but I would be very interested to know that.
