Entropic Shield, like evasion but specific to ranged, so you can have a slightly better
result without training as much XP.

... because mages are so under-powered, right?
Touche Jefe...I agree mages are vastly overpowered, but someone had kept whining about a mage skill, so I figured this one was at least balanced in principal.
Give em something semi-useful to use Xp fer besides HP/FB...

they won't be overpowered once the top players decide to spend a lot more usd.

I keep hearing a ton of whining about the use of usd by top players. Does anyone wonder why this is happening? I cannot speak for all, but for me it is because I don't want to go down the Mage road just because it is more powerful on a NW vs NW or MPR vs MPR basis. I like my strat and if I have to pump some usd into my character to make my strat work against huge Mages then that is what I have to do. Don't whine about others choices, they are ours to make, just as yours are to you. Whine about something that Jonathan might/can/should change and see what happens. :)

think of it this way: if everyone plays without selling their items for usd, everyone would be pretty equal in terms of mages vs tanks, oh maybe not but point is if that were the case then mages vs tanks could be balanced out, but since money is a factor in getting damage upgraded on weapons, people buy the money with usd from people who don't need the money since they are mages.
So what happens is these 2 paths without usd in the mix or maybe it is:
Path A being a tank which means: Advantage gained in making many accounts:fight with all of them and send all money to 1 which is primary fighter which would use money to upgrade weapon to great #'s while leveling to compete with mages. Or with case of usd, 1 guy fights and uses usd to buy from other fighters who collect cash.
Path B: Just level the character using skills trained while fighting which does not need multiple accounts.
So think of path A as having multiple accounts to get the funds for a high weapon and path B not needing to be a multi :)
Now im not saying people that buy money with usd or sell money for usd are multis im just saying if u took out usd out of equation and still needed ton of money that is what u would have to do to make tanks do lots of dmg compared to mages. If tank characters upgraded their weapons using their own money from fights right now they probably would do less dmg than mages but at the same time since mages have problems with amf, tanks would be balanced with mages. When factor of usd comes in, tanks destroy mages once very high amounts of money on weapon happens.
Mages can't upgrade their dd unless they get coi but that won't compare against upgraded weapons.
An example of what Torementor is saying.
My 1 Mil single hit contest. Yes in time a DD would have got there (Another 900K for BCS or 400K for myself).
With 45 Million CB2 ploughed into a weapon, coupled with a ToA and BL, ranged Hit it within a couple of days of me posting the contest.
Granted, potential physical damage has taken a hit with this change month, but again, tnaks have always been balanced with mages on thier abilbity to hit multiple times. An infinite amount of times with the aid of money.
Force a massive amount of cash into a tank weapon, from any source, forging, the now removed camping or the easier and faster purchasing with USD, and you can inflate the damage a tank does.
As for all my whining about a mage skill/s, it's not about power, it's about versatility and strategy.
