Mage Staff - wimpy combat stats on par with rapier, adds .2% to magic for each + (or a straight +6% bonus).

sounds awsome :)

It's been suggested 3 times in the last week, and probably 60 or 70 times total.

Magic = you don't need NW

Tank = you need NW

Jon doesn't like upsetting this. Yes, with a mage staff you still wouldn't NEED NW, but exp is the only way to up magic, and it seems thats the way it will stay.

I wonder if Jon will ever create a staff or similar item just to make people stop bugging him about it.

A Mage Staff [0x0] (+0) $100,000 +0% to all stats

Coming on April 1st (^_^)

Frequently Offered Retarded Suggestions

# Q: Mage staffs would be cool to augment magical power!

A: private explained why this is dumb with more patience than I would:

Tanks: Can become more powerful than mages, but cost lots of money to maintain. Mages: Tend to be cheaper than tanks, but also tend to be less powerful (and less able to deal with armor penalties)

I think this provides a nice balance between spending money on your chars and spending exp on them; I see no reason to change it.

Cornuthaum: Base AC 0 -10% DX +6% magic.

Need I say more?

No, you've already quite adequately demonstrated that you don't get it.

Ryu, if it's the look your after, just buy any 2 handed weapon and re name it. ;)

miteke [Superheros] March 7 2005 12:42 PM EST

Oh, I get it all right. your reason for not having a mage staff is, paraphrased,

"You already have an item that costs a lot to boost magic, and your reason for not having another item that costs a lot to boost magic is that it will cost a lot and boost magic. "

Perfectly unclear.

What you REALLY want to say, is that you want a LOT of items to boost tanks and only a very small amount of items to boost magic, so that tanks have that advantage. You have limited magic boosting items to headgear and only headgear. I can live with that, but the argument as stated made absolutely no sense.

I don't like being called an idiot when its clear I am not and even have to do your arguing for you in order for your point to make sense.

Somebody's intelligence is challenged here and it's not mine.

Gloves and Cloaks can also give a boost to magic. ;)

miteke [Superheros] March 7 2005 2:01 PM EST

I stand corrected, gloves and cloaks too.

If you can't grasp the distinction between an item that adds a fixed percent to a stat and one that adds more as the enchantment goes up, I can't help you.
